According to Socrates the subject-matter of philosophy is the human being. Prior to Socrates, philosophers were interested in topics such as how universe was formed, what made the planets move, is earth revolving around the sun, is earth flat or in round shape, and so on.
However, Socrates was the first philosopher who declared that the major concern of philosophy should be questions about human and humanity. Therefore Socrates investigated concepts such as what is justice, what is truth, what is knowledge, and so on, the concepts concerned with the human being.
