Martin Luther King was the great leader of the Negroes. He awakened them and prepared them to end their slavery. He struggled very hard to get them equal rights in the society. He told them to continue their struggle with the belief that unearned suffering is redemptive. He hoped that one day there would be equality and justice in the American society. He inspired their confidence.

The condition of the Negroes was very bad. They were treated worse than animals. They did not enjoy basic human rights. They had no opportunities for progress and development.
