He told them to continue their struggle with the belief that unearned suffering is redemptive. He hoped that one day there would be equality and justice in the American society. He inspired their confidence.

The condition of the Negroes was very bad. They were treated worse than animals. They did not enjoy basic human rights. They had no opportunities for progress and development. They were treated as slaves. The Whites considered themselves to be superior to them only on the basis of colour. There was no merit system for them. Their abilities and talent were underestimated.
