The air space that is designated as territory of a state extends to the limits where a plane can fly. But modern development in the world has made it necessary to regulate the outer space as well. Thus, outer space just like the high seas is the common heritage of mankind.

RELEVANT LAWS
The principal set of regulations that govern the intervention of human being in the outer space is Outer Space Treaty-1967. Besides this, there are a number of other laws which take care of various aspects related to the outer space. For instance;

  • ‘Law for Registration of Space Objects’ is concerned with registration of satellites and other objects that states send in the outer space for various purposes.
  • ‘Law of Liability of Accident in Outer Space’ holds the state liable that becomes the cause of some accident in space.
  • ‘Rescue of Astronauts Agreement’ directs the world states at large to take every possible step in order to rescue the Astronauts who get trapped in the outer space.
  • ‘Moon Treaty’ takes care of man’s approach on moon.
