(a) State any two differences between Hard disk and Compact disk.
(b) What is the significance of bytes ?

Difference between Hard disk and Compact disk:

  1. A compact disk is an optical storage media, while hard disk is a magnetic storage media.
  2. Compact disk is easily movable secondary data storage device whereas the Hard disk is the fixed secondary data storage device.

Byte
Byte is a unit of data that is eight binary digits long. A byte is the unit most computers use to represent a character such as a letter, number, or typographic symbol (for example, “g”, “5”, or “?”). A byte can also hold a string of bits that need to be used in some larger unit for application purposes.
