Borobudur is a famous Buddhist temple built in the 8th and 9th centuries AD during the reign of the Syailendra Dynasty. The Borobudur temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, and it is located in the central Java, Indonesia.

It was built in three tiers: a pyramidal base, three circular platforms, and a central dome at the top. The central dome is surrounded by circular platforms with 72 openwork stupas each containing a statue of the Buddha. The Borobudur Temple Compound was designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
