Nobel Prize
The Nobel Prizes are prizes awarded annually to individuals or organizations who make outstanding contributions in the six nominated fields. These six field are: chemistry, physics, literature, peace, economics, and physiology or medicine.
The first Nobel prizes were awarded in 1901 in the five fields. And, the first prize in the sixth field, economics, was awarded in 1969.
The Nobel Prizes are being awarded annually by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Academy, the Karolinska Institutet, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The Nobel prizes were founded according to the will of Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel who left his wealth of about 31 million SEK for the establishment of the Nobel Prizes.
