What are the advantages of using a word processing program over a Typewriter?
The main advantages of Word processor over using a typewriter are as follows:

  • You can make changes without retyping the entire document.
  • You can easily correct typing mistakes.
  • You can easily delete text from document.
  • It is easy to insert a word, sentence, or paragraph in the middle (or any location) of a document.
  • You can send the document to a printer to get a hard copy. Many hard copies of the document can be created.

What is the purpose of “Thesaurus” feature in MS-Word?
The Microsoft Word thesaurus provides a list of synonyms for chosen words in your document. In Microsoft Word 2003, when you highlight a word, right-click and hover over the synonyms arrow, a list of alternate words is offered. If you click below the list where it says thesaurus, a broader tool becomes available.

What is meant by the term word wrap in MS-Word?
Word wrap is a word processing feature that forces all text to be confined within defined margins. When a line of text is filled, the word processor automatically moves the text to the next line, so the user doesn’t have to press the return key after every line. Word wrap also occurs if the document’s margins are changed.

What do you mean by indenting a paragraph in MS-Word ? Explain it.
Indenting a paragraph means shifting the body of text within the normal page margin. When u indent a paragraph, you temporarily change the position of text relative to the left and right margins. You can indent a paragraph on the left side only, on the right side only or on the both sides. Indentation is determined by the tab setting on the Ruler if you use increase indent or decrease indent. Each time you indent a paragraph, the text moves to the next tab stop.
