Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on 16 October 2015 addressed the stone laying ceremony of 1230 MW LNG-based Haveli Bahadur Shah power plant in Jhang. It is a natural gas power plant, and uses regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) as a fuel. The project is funded by the government of Punjab.

On July 7, 2017 PM Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the first unit of 760 MW, and the Haveli Bahadur Shah power plant became fully operational on May 10, 2018.
