FPSC CSS SYLLABUS, SUBJECTS AND EXAM RULES FOR CSS WRITTEN EXAMINATION 2021, 2022

Syllabus and Rules for Compulsory and Optional Papers of Central Superior Services (CSS) Competitive Examination (CE) by Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), Pakistan. Link to CSS Syllabus (PDF) and CSS subjects example choices are given below. The following syllabus for the CSS examination is for CSS 2021, 2022 and onward CSS exams.
NOTE: The following syllabus, paper patter, and other information is only for CSS exams. For other jobs announced by FPSC, please view FPSC Syllabus section.

CSS Syllabus, FPSC Subjects and Exam Rules

CSS COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
Total Papers: 12 (Total Marks: 1200)
Compulsory Papers: 6 (Marks: 600) (All candidates have to take the 6 compulsory papers)
Optional Papers: 6 (Marks: 600) (Candidates shall choose 6 out of various given choices)

So in CSS, there are 12 papers of 100 marks each. The 6 papers: (1) Essay, (2) English, (3) General Science & Ability, (4) Current Affairs, (5) Pakistan Affairs, and (6) Islamic Studies are compulsory. Meaning that all candidates have to take these 6 papers. However, non-Muslim candidates have a choice to either opt Islamic Studies or Comparative Religion. Candidates shall also choose 6 optional papers from various given choices according to some rules given below with each group of papers.

CSS COMPULSORY SUBJECTS (600 MARKS)

The six CSS Compulsory papers are of 100 marks each having time duration of three hours in all papers. All candidates must take all the compulsory papers.

NOTE: Non Muslim Candidates may either opt Islamic Studies OR Comparative Study of Major Religions as may suit to them. Muslim candidates must take Islamic Studies paper.

CSS OPTIONAL SUBJECTS (600 MARKS)
The candidates are required to select optional subjects carrying a total of 600 marks. The subjects carrying two papers of 100 marks each, like Accountancy & Auditing, Economics in Group-I, must have to take both the papers.

GROUP – I
Candidates can opt one subject of 200 marks.

NOTE: If you take Economics-I, you also have to take the Economics-II. And same is true for all other papers of 200 marks, i.e. Accountancy & Auditing, Computer Science, etc.

GROUP – II
Candidates can opt subject(s) of 200 marks.

NOTE: If you take Physics-I, you also have to take the Physics-II. And same is true for Chemistry papers.

GROUP – III
Candidates can opt one subject of 100 marks.

GROUP – IV
Candidates can opt one subject of 100 marks.

GROUP – V
Candidates can opt one subject of 100 marks.

GROUP – VI
Candidates can opt one subject of 100 marks.

GROUP – VII
Candidates can opt one subject of 100 marks.
