Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park

Pakistan has planned world’s largest solar power plant in Bahawalpur which is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. On 5 May 2015 Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the first unit of 100 MW. The solar plant will start generating 1000 MW of electricity by December 2016. And if completed, it will become the world’s largest solar power plant.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on 4 July 2015 chaired a meeting with representatives of Zonergy, the Chinese company working on Quaid-e-Azam Solar Plant, and other Pakistani officials, and directed them to complete the Quaid-i-Azam Solar Power Park (QASP) by April 2016. Zonergy have assured Prime Minister that the project will be completed by the first week of April 2016.
